St. George Island!!

Since it's Fall Break, we are on vacation with Grandmama, Lea, Grandmommie, & Paw-Paw at St. George Island!!! The weather is perfect (in October.....who knew??), and we are having a very fun and relaxing time. Have a peek at some of our shenanigans:

When we got here Sunday afternoon, Claira had a bit of a meltdown....I guess from riding in the carseat for 8 hours. Only Paw-Paw could get her to calm down....
The girlies love their Paw-Paw :)
 ...and their Grandmommie....
 ....and of course, their Grandmama....
Grandmama decided to basically cut her finger off the first day by opening a lounge chair (that takes real talent)...
....but "Dr. Josh" ran to get bandages to fix her up. :)
Once she was good-to-go, we could enjoy ourselves on the beach. :)
 We swam....
....and slept....
.....made sandcastles....
.....flew kites....
 ....caught fish....
....played football...
....ran....
  ....caught some rays....
....played with the neighbors' dog, "Bella" (the girls would throw sand in the air, and she would jump to catch it in her mouth)....
....and watched a random goober run down the beach in his speedo. :)

Every morning started with coffee and a sunrise....
...and ended with dinner and a sunset.
We ate some yummy seafood and steaks at Blue Parrot, Harry A's, Oyster Bay, and restaurants in Apalachicola, and we occasionally headed over to a park for some evening fun...
(even though the below picture is so fuzzy, I HAD to post it.....Paw-Paw got us good). :)
When we got home one night, we realized that the dryer wouldn't work. Terrific. So, we hung the laundry overnight......even the underwear. :)
One night, we decided to just stay at home for dinner. So, Josh and Paw-Paw made some low-country boil, and we ate and listened to Jimmy Buffett....
....the girls wouldn't touch the the low-country boil (good, more for us), so they ate hotdogs and watched Roseanne. :)
On Thursday, we found a "just-hatched" baby sea turtle that had evidently taken the wrong turn.....he was headed for the road instead of the ocean.
Josh brought him near the ocean....
....but he kept washing back up to shore.
So, the Steve Irwin came out in Josh, and he took him out deep so that the little guy would have a chance...
Ella said a little prayer for the turtle that night, so I'm sure he's doing fine. :) Speaking of Ella, she got about 2.5 million sand-spurs in her feet, she brushed up against a bush and got sand-spurs EVERYWHERE (including her panties), and she also got the biggest splinter I have ever seen in her toe (she called it a "branch"). Poor baby had a rough time with "sticky-things."
Since Ella kept getting attacked by all the "sticky things," we had to take her to get her something extra-special (when Josh got her splinter-branch out, she screamed so loud that people on the beach could hear her). :( We traveled to the St. George Trading Co. (as we did almost daily) to get Ella a new toy for being so "brave." She also picked out some stuff for Nora & Claira (she's a thoughtful little soul). Plus, EVERYONE got new St. George shirts since they were on CLEARANCE. :) Here's just a few pics of us before heading out to shop:
Despite the "sticky-things," Ella had a WONDERFUL time, and talked THE ENTIRE TRIP. She's so funny and animated. One of her favorite things to do was go "crab-hunting" at night with the flashlights.....there were hundreds of ghost crabs on the shore at night. I couldn't get any pictures of that because, frankly, it freaked me out a bit. But I could get pictures of us on the beach just before the sun went under....that's one of my favorite times....we don't have to worry about sunscreen, the weather is amazing, and everyone can just run free. :)
Since it's our last night of vacation (so sad), we all decided to actually put on a bit of make-up and look presentable to get a few family shots on the beach:
I'll end with a picture of all of us....
We're missing Matt & Anna and their youngins terribly, but they are enjoying PCB with Anna's family. I hope they ate an Angelo's steak for us. :)

All in all, this was an unforgettable trip....one of the best we've ever experienced!!! It was such a great time filled with laughter and "floppy clothes." :)

Cheers to beach memories....

....and the many more to come!!
