It was another amazing school year a the Hive!! These last few months have been extremely bittersweet as this will be our last year at Beulah. We are thrilled to make our move to South Douglas Elementary next year, but our hearts will always kinda ache for "our first home." :) Ella absolutely adored her 2nd grade year, and Nora truly loved 4th grade! Here's a quick recap of our second half of the school year:
Winter Awards
We kicked off 2017 with an awards ceremony. Both of our girls racked up, receiving awards in every category:
100th Day of School
We dressed up like 100-year-olds to celebrate the 100th day of school. Of course, the SACS committee came for a visit that day, so the leadership team had to sit in the interview panel dressed as a bunch of elders (they LOVED us) *brushing shoulders off* :)
Even Clairy got to participate in Pre-K!!
Mr. Francis - the Daddy-Mac of the nursing home:
Math Competition
Nora was selected to compete in the 2017 Math Competition. She and her team did an amazing job!
Black History Month Performance
Nora performed for the Black History Month Performance, and she had a solo of "Bride Over Troubled Waters"
Pastor Bailey and Mr. McGill ended the show with a "jam session" :)
Nora's greatest fans :)
Ella is a Movie Star!!!
Well, sort of!! She IS a commercial star, though!! Greystone Power filmed a commercial inside the Beulah media center, and they selected Ella and my sweet student, Jonathan, to "star" in the commercial!!
Applying all the stage make-up!! :)
Even Ms. George (our bangin' AP) made the cut!!
Here's the commercial (keep your eyes open - if you blink, you'll miss them!) Regardless, a star is born!!! :)
Claira's Field Trip to Cochran Mill
Claira was so excited to have Daddy AND Grandmommie accompany her on her field trip to the Cochran Mill Nature Center!
Checking out all the critters:
Science Fair
Nora's science fair project, "Apple Science," won first place at Beulah, and was then selected to compete in the county-wide competition. After the interview and presentation process, we were delighted to learn that our girl took 2nd place in the county competition!! So proud of our little science nerd!
Sra. Chaij - always supporting our girl :)Mrs. Walton and Nora :)
2nd place!!!
Field Days - Disney Style!!!
We were sooooo excited that Field Days were Disney-themed this year!!
Nora was selected to be a helper for all 3 days. She was stoked!
As you can see, she was doing a lot of "helping:"
She did help her poor-old-mama, though. Here's my awesome attempt at the slide. I still call it an overall success:
I couldn't get many pictures of my girls on Field Day because I had to stay with my sweet students. BUT, Ella got first dibs on "Dunk Dr. Nesbitt" this year. First try:
Family Disney Night
To carry out the Disney theme, we also had a Disney-themed night to celebrate the art show....
Chorus performed several of our favorite Disney songs:
Claira's Pre-K graduation
I am really in disbelief that Claira graduated Pre-K. I still view her as my baby. Probably always will.
Daddy got to attend Claira's end-of-the-year celebration. Such smart, cute, happy kids:
Ella had the sweetest little party, and sang us many songs in Spanish. She also racked up in her awards. We LOVE Mrs. Munoz and Sra. Brownlow - just the best pair of teachers on the planet:
Nora also racked up in awards. Holy guacamole:
Since this is our last year at Beulah, I received my own special awards and precious notes that I will cherish forever. So grateful for this family and these experiences:
Once a Bee, Always a Bee
For the last 13 years, Beulah Elementary has been my home. These people (this FAMILY) have loved and educated my girls since they were in the womb, they brought me through the lowest of lows, and were my greatest cheerleaders through the highest of highs. I have made friendships that will last forevermore. As we make our move to South Douglas Elementary next year, a part of my heart will ALWAYS remain at Beulah. I love you, my forever family.
Cheers to another amazing school year, and to Beulah Elementary School, my home and heart.
Once a BEE, always a BEE!!
